My work is about creating worlds of characters, or "crowds," that emerge directly from the subconscious—without any clear planning, but with a deep connection to the inner impulses that move me. The spontaneous, intuitive process is of utmost importance to me, as I don't seek fixed answers in art; instead, I want to open up the space in which the characters' emotions and energies can unfold. Each work emerges from the moment, as a response to what concerns me internally, and demonstrates the vibrant dynamic between the individual and the collective.
My mostly colorful and large-format works address the theme of diversity and collective dynamics within communities. My "crowds" reflect not only the diversity of human connections, but also the ways in which we as individuals are intertwined and influence one another within society.
The figures are never isolated, but always part of a larger whole. Yet their uniqueness remains intact at every moment—be it through their posture, their facial expressions, or the way they are integrated into the composition. This balance between the individuality of the individual and the community as a whole demonstrates that every person makes a valuable contribution to a dynamic and vibrant society.
The colors, shapes, and dynamics in my work reflect how the interaction of individuals creates a society that is both diverse and harmonious. The fusion of the figures, their physical, emotional, and energetic intertwining, illustrates the constant interplay that takes place in every social context. While each figure remains unique in its identity, the boundaries between the individuals and the larger social fabric blur, where the distinction between "I" and "we" often becomes fluid. Thus, the many figures are perceived as a living mass.
With my "Crowds," I want to show the viewer not only the beauty of diversity, but also the deep connection between all people in their differences. I'm interested in honoring the unique role of each individual within a vibrant community and demonstrating the collective potential of society.
My preferred techniques—oil pastels of varying hardness, combined with airbrush and acrylic or oil paint on linen or paper—allow me to visualize these themes. These materials and their varying textures not only lend the figures distinct structures, but also depth and realism, creating a dynamic, multi-layered space. In this way, I blend facets of my everyday life with my imagination, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in my "crowds," reflect on the boundaries between individuals and society, and discover the beauty in diversity and the interaction between people.
